The word 'Scrank' can mean whatever you choose it to mean...here lies the beauty within Scrank. For the band Scrank means any form of attachment. Not just to the obvious vices such as drugs, alcohol, coffee etc... but to any form of addiction or identification to form. It could be to food, TV, shopping, internet, music, working out, health, men, women, pets, driving, our opinions, views, perspectives on life and so on. Its part of what makes us human. It is all Scrank.
As for the band... they are really good friends that want to have fun and nothing else. They are four seasoned working musicians that where just looking for a place to enjoy music herself without all the pressure of trying to be something. Without trying to care about looking for gigs, without the pressure of form and expectations. To remember why they all started music in the very first place...because it was fun. Just to jam, be stupid and have a good time. They practice once a week...but there is only one rule for the band...there are no rules (Scrank club). SO it does not matter if a member does not show up, it does not matter if someone did not learn a song or does not practice. It does not matter if someone in the band is too busy, moody or having a bad day. No pressure, no commitment and total freedom in the music and and in all things. As Barry Turner once said "I have no time for people without patience". Because of this method the band has pretty much rehearsed every single week for over a year and has written over 30 original songs in just one month.
In the beginning people suggested that the band should write songs about real life, the band took this suggestion literally and started to compose songs about washing machines, smelly feet and sandwiches. The band likes to write songs about how hard we can be on ourselves and on each other in a tongue and cheek manner.
The group consists of four close friends that love each other, use the music as therapy and try to make some smiles. For Scrank the music comes second and the person behind the music comes first.
